Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna

Two Bihar assembly legislators and one Member of Parliament, who were under judicial custody, absconded along with their police escorts, while being under treatment in Delhi.

The escort party comprised 21 police personnel.

Two separate First Information Reports were lodged with the Defence Colony police station and the Sarojini Nagar police station in Delhi under the Section 224 of the Indian Penal Code [for absconding from judicial custody] and Section 225 [for facilitating escape].

Both the MLAs were jailed under several charges, including murder, loot, kidnapping and cheating.

MP Pappu Yadav, who represents the Purnia parliamentary constituency in Lok Sabha, was lodged in Beur Central Jail in Patna under several charges of murder.

Yadav was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences early this month, while both the MLAs were admitted to the Safdarjung Hospital last month.
