American orthopaedics to train Bihar medicos

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna

A team of five orthopaedic experts from the United States of America will provide training to doctors in knee and joint replacement techniques and operate poor people suffering from osteo-arthritis and other problems free of cost in Bihar.

The team was in Patna to attend the 47th annual conference of Indian Orthopaedic Association.

Of the five, Dr Ajoy Kumar Sinha [Chicago] and Dr Upendra Prasad Singh [New York] hail from Bihar and studied at the Patna Medical College and Hospital.

The team claimed that they have performed four successful joint replacement surgeries by using a revolutionary technology, pioneered by Israel.

The other members include David Petty, executive vice-president of the US firm Exactech, its project managers Evene Zhao and Julien.
