TN government will not host
Iftar this year

N Sathiya Moorthy in Chennai

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has said that she would not be hosting the annual Iftar in the Islamic holy month of Ramzan in view of the recent drought in the state.

In a statement in Chennai, Jayalalithaa conveyed her Ramzan greetings to the Muslim community and said, "There is no reason other than the drought and farmers' plight behind the decision."
