US ambassador Blackwill to visit J&K

United States Ambassador Robert Blackwill will arrive in Jammu soon on a "familiarisation" tour and is expected to meet representatives of the Mufti Mohammed Sayeed government.

Blackwill, during his stay in the city of temples, is also expected to meet Kashmiris who left the valley after the onset of militancy, official sources said.

The sources said his programme is being kept secret in view of threats from various terrorist groups against Americans.

He will also visit Kashmir, where, besides holding talks with a cross-section of the people, he is likely to meet separatist groups.

An advance team from the American mission is in the valley to line up engagements for the ambassador, who will fly into the state in a special aircraft.

He is also likely to visit Ladakh, the sources added.
