Eyewitness to Ansal Plaza shootout moves NHRC

Dr Hari Krishna, who claimed to be an eyewitness to the recent Ansal Plaza shootout, on Tuesday moved the National Human Rights Commission demanding investigation to ascertain the 'true facts' of the alleged encounter, even as he softened his stand over the role of the Delhi police in the episode.

Accompanied by a team of lawyers, Krishna said, "For four officials of police, who are involved in the alleged encounter, one cannot blame the whole Delhi police. Why you people are defaming the whole force?"

"How can Delhi police, which itself is a party in the alleged encounter, be fair in investigating the matter. We have requested the NHRC to give us an opportunity to record our statement before it or direct the police to hold an independent probe to note the true facts of the alleged encounter," Krishna, after submitting his petition in NHRC, said.

Krishna also demanded stern action against the four officials, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ashok Chand, Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajbeer Singh and Inspectors Govind Sharma and Hiryahushan, for 'obstructing the course of justice' and added that disciplinary proceedings should be initiated against them.

Asked about the findings of the postmortem conducted on two terrorists, which contradicted his various allegations, Krishna refused to comment.
