CRPF picket targeted; one militant killed in J&K

Militants made an attempt to target a Central Reserve Police Force picket at Banglabagh in Baramulla district, even as security forces shot dead a militant in an encounter in Kashmir valley on Thursday night, official sources said.

The militants lobbed a grenade towards the picket, which, however, missed its target and exploded on the road causing no casualty or damage.

In an encounter in Pulwana district of south Kashmir, security forces killed Sartaj Ahmed Lone. Lone was a resident of Tangpora. Some arms and ammunition were recovered from him, they added.
