Kamal Pande takes over as Cabinet Secretary

Kamal Pande on Friday took over as the new Cabinet Secretary succeeding T R Prasad.

A 1965 batch Indian Administrative Service officer from Uttaranchal cadre, 59-year-old Pande was the home secretary till October 15, when he became officer on special duty in the Cabinet Secretariat.

He would occupy the topmost bureaucratic post for two years. Prasad, who retired after a two-year tenure, handed Pande the charge on Friday morning.
