60 die in UP as high tension wire falls on bus

At least 60 persons were killed on Saturday night when a high tension wire fell on a bus carrying a marriage party in a village in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh, police said.

The bus was carrying around 65 wedding guests when the incident occurred near Purwa village, police said.

In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Principal Secretary (Home) Anil Kumar confirmed the death of 50 people.

Two members of the marriage party, which was on its way to the bride's house have survived, police said.

Senior district and police officials have reached the scene.
