Laloo's daughter's wedding: Cops told to stay off marriage food

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna

The police personnel providing security cover during the marriage of the daughter of Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Prasad Yadav have been given strict orders not to partake dinner at the function scheduled for Friday night.

According to sources about 200 police constables have been deployed at the sprawling official bungalow of Rabri Devi where the marriage will be solemnised.

About 60 police officers of the rank of sub-inspector and assistant sub-inspectors have also deployed.

Twelve senior police officers of the rank of superintendent of police to deputy inspector general of police would be supervising the arrangements.

The marriage organisers have decided to provide food packets to police personnel on duty two hours prior to the start of marriage dinner party.

This step has been taken as precautionary measure in view of the experience during Laloo's first daughter Misa Bharti's wedding in 1999 when policemen posted on duty went berserk at the food stalls.
