STD, Internet facilities in Kashmir restored

STD and Internet facilities to the public call offices in Jammu and Kashmir were restored on Saturday -- five months after the government withdrew it in the wake of terrorist attack on Parliament.

The Centre issued a directive in this regard on Friday night, General Manager Telecommunication Sunil Kumar said in Srinagar.

He said the state government and the telecom department had been persuading the Centre to restore the facility as its discontinuation had rendered many PCO operators unemployed.
