Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday urged the Centre to take all the political parties and nation into confidence on the action being contemplated against Pakistan following Tuesday's attack in Kaluchak, near Jammu.
Naidu, whose party is a key supporter of the ruling National Democratic Alliance, also cautioned against talking about war with Pakistan.
"This is an issue of national interest and the country's prestige is involved. It is not good for anybody and everybody to speculate about war, as it will create an unwarranted confusion," he said.
The TDP chief said: "All the parties have taken a stand in the interest of nation. All of us should be together to face the situation. How to face it, the Government of India is there to decide. But they should take everybody into confidence and proceed further in the national interest."
"It is not good to presume things," he said when asked whether all the political parties had unanimously agreed on military action against Pakistan.
"Something has happened to our country. The nation is important than anything else. When there is a serious issue facing us, we should sit together and discuss how to save the country's prestige and the nation. That is important," he observed.
He said his party leaders in Delhi were in constant touch with the Centre on the issue. "We will react appropriately to developments from time to time."
