Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Friday called for a full-scale war against Pakistan for its complicity in Tuesday's attack in Kalu Chak, near Jammu.
In a hard-hitting statement in Chennai, she said: "It is time for India to sever diplomatic ties with Pakistan, and launch a full-scale war. If the Centre takes such a timely and bold decision, the entire nation will be solidly behind it."
She hoped that the government would teach an unforgettable lesson to Pakistan before it was too late.
Jayalalithaa said the whole world was convinced that Pakistan was providing military and logistical support to the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
Describing the Kalu Chak attack as a "gruesome tragedy", she said, "It is high time the Centre realised the truth that we can never have a cordial relationship with Pakistan."
She said the government's reaction to the acts of terrorism in J&K was muted while the Western nations were content with just condemning them.
"There is no point in going on sacrificing our brave soldiers by stationing them as sitting ducks in Kashmir," the chief minister said. "The Centre cannot fight terror by just making fiery statements. Words should be matched with deeds."
