"The Hurriyat wants a seat on the negotiating table to discuss solutions to the Kashmir issue and not a desk in the state assembly to do nothing," Hurriyat chairman Prof Abdul Gani Bhat said at a function in Srinagar.
On the changing geo-political scenario after September 11, he said there might be a change in the mindset and approach of the people, but that the incident cannot change the political reality.
"Sweeping changes across the world cannot sweep us from our feet. The people here say loudly and clearly that they want freedom of self-determination," Bhat said.
