Two jawans were killed and three injured in the predawn attack, they said.
One group of terrorists took position on mountaintops around the camp in Kalakote area at around 0430 hours, opened indiscriminate fire and hurled grenades at it, the sources said.
Another group attempted to storm the camp from the front gate, killing two jawans and injuring three others, one of them seriously, they said.
The BSF personnel retaliated and the exchange of fire continued for over an hour, they said, adding that the terrorists managed to escape.
Additional troops were rushed to the spot and the entire area was cordoned off to track down the terrorists, they added.
