JKLF leader Yasin Malik hospitalised

Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chief Yaseen Malik, who has been remanded to seven days police custody, was on Thursday hospitalised after he complained of chest pain, official sources said.

The JKLF leader had refused to take food and complained of some chest pain during midnight, they said.

He was taken to a nursing home early on Thursday where doctors attending on him described his condition as normal, they added.

Earlier, Udhampur chief judicial magistrate had directed authorities for Malik's examination by a team of doctors after he complained of chest pain in the court.

Malik was sent to police custody after a team of doctors headed by the principal of Government Medical College Hospital H K Goswami found him medically fit on Tuesday, the sources said.

He was shifted to a safe police house after securing clearance from the doctors about his fitness and he was being questioned there and not at the joint interrogation centre, the sources said.

The JKLF chief may be shifted to Udhampur jail after interrogation as he is also facing charges under Prevention of Terrorism Act and Foreign Exchange Regulation Act.

Malik was arrested in Srinagar after two persons, Shazia Begum and JKLF activist Mushtaq Ahmed Dar, claimed they were carrying $100,000 for him.
