3 killed, 8 injured in police
firing in Rajasthan

Three persons were killed and eight injured when police opened fire to disperse a group of Vishwa Hindu Parishad-Bajrang Dal activists indulging in stone-pelting in Rajasthan's Sawai Madhopur district on Monday.

The activists were resisting attempts by the police to clear way for a Murharram procession.

While two persons died on the spot, another succumbed at a hospital in Karoli town, senior police officials said.

Two of the dead were identified as Satish and Dharam Singh.

Indefinite curfew has been clamped in the town.

Jawans of the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary and the Special Task Force have been deployed in the town. A couple of units of the Rapid Action Force have also been rushed to the town.
