Jana resigns as BJP president

Amid reports that he was a 'stumbling block' in Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's plan to expand and reshuffle his Cabinet, Bharatiya Janata Party president Jana Krishnamurthy resigned on Friday evening.

Rural Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu and Information and Broadcasting Minister Sushma Swaraj are understood to be in the race for the post.
