J&K CM Farooq Abdullah escapes
bid on life

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Saturday escaped a bid on his life when militants fired two rifle grenades at the J&K Board of School Education building near Srinagar, official sources said.

The incident occurred when Abdullah was inaugurating the newly-constructed building at Bemina around 1300 hours IST, the sources said.

There was no loss of life or damage to property, they added.
