Militants stormed a police station in Pulwama district in Kashmir late on Tuesday night killing one policeman and injuring three others.
At least two militants entered the police post at Khrew in south Kashmir at around 2200 hrs on Tuesday and opened indiscriminate fire, a senior police official said.
Head constable Mohammad Yousuf was killed in the firing.
An army patrol party engaged the militants, but they managed to escape.
The injured were identified as constables Ghulam Nabi, Ghulam Mohiuddin and Naik Mahipal Singh.
