A special court on Monday rejected the bail plea of seven accused in the multi-million Maharashtra Public Service Commission scam.
Judge P N Deshmukh noted that he was rejecting their plea on the grounds that investigations were at a crucial stage and the probe would be hampered if they were granted bail.
The seven accused are: former MPSC chairman S D Karnik, controller of examination (MPSC) Sudhakar Sarode, deputy superintendent of police Baban Kadam, Eknath Vezere and Sunil Patil, employees at the state secretariat, computer expert Farooq Karge and Manisha Nichat.
Anti-corruption Bureau's counsel S K Menon and R V Kini argued that the accused might tamper with evidence if released on bail.
