32 flee juvenile prison in Bhopal complaining of poor living conditions

In a sensational incident, 32 children on Tuesday escaped from the juvenile prison in CI Colony area in Bhopal after attacking and beating up its two chowkidars (guards).

Police said the children rendered the chowkidars unconscious and managed to open the main door of the prison.

Fifteen of the children were later apprehended and are being kept in the Jehangirabad police station, police said.

The children told reporters that they were forced to escape as the food they got in the juvenile prison was of very poor quality and the quantity too was not enough.

Prison authorities said at least a few of the total 44 children kept in the juvenile prison were facing serious charges, including attempt to murder and even rape in one instance.

The chowkidars were in a serious condition when they were rushed to the hospital, police said adding that their condition had improved.
