One of the assailants was later killed in an encounter with the police, the spokesman said.
Old enmity was stated to be the cause of the killing, he said.
Agitated over the murder, villagers blocked the Lucknow-Sultanpur national highway but dispersed later, he said.
Unidentified assailants had gunned down Jansatta Express reporter Paritosh Pande at Gomtinagar area of Lucknow in May.
