Vaiko allowed to vote in presidential poll

N Sathiya Moorthy in Chennai

The Madras high court on Friday sanctioned permission to MDMK general secretary Vaiko to cast his vote in Monday's presidential election.

A member of the Lok Sabha from the Sivakasi constituency in Tamil Nadu, Vaiko moved the court following his detention under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) on Thursday.

Passing the orders, Justice V Kanakaraj, however, directed that Vaiko not address the media or shout slogans while being taken to cast his vote in the secretariat complex in Chennai.
