ASI Laldin of Special Operations Group and SPO Fareed Ahmad Khan barged into the room of the woman in Karan Nagar on Wednesday night and tried to outrage her modesty, the sources said.
The woman raised an alarm, attracting the residents who caught hold of the inebriated police personnel and handed them over to police, the sources said.
They said no first information report had been registered against the two and the case had been referred to senior officials.
Wednesday's incident came two days after the alleged abduction and molestation of a teenaged girl by two policemen on the outskirts of Srinagar. Both the cops were suspended.
