The charges of rape against Bihar speaker Sadanand Singh was withdrawn in Bhagalpur court by Reena Devi, a dalit woman who had earlier accused Singh, his brother Vivekananda Singh and some police officials of gang raping her.
According to police sources, Reena Devi retracted her statement in the court last week.
Her father Jogi Dom, who was the prime witness in the alleged gang rape, also took back his statement in the court on Tuesday.
The next date for hearing of the case has been fixed for July 15.
Last month Reena Devi had filed a petition to the chief judicial magistrate, Bhagalpur, accusing Singh and others of raping her.
Reena Devi, a resident of Rangra village under Naugachia police district, is said to be close to Binod Dom, one of the main accused in the abduction of Sagar, Singh's grandson, two months ago.
Sagar was later rescued by the police.
Singh had denied the rape charge against him terming it a 'conspiracy' by his political rivals.
