MDMK emergency meeting postponed

The emergency meeting convened by the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam in Chennai on Friday to discuss the future strategy in the wake of the first information report filed under the Prevention of Terrorism Act against its leader Vaiko has been postponed due to "unavoidable circumstances".

Due to the non-availability of Union minister Gingee Ramachandran and presidium president L Ganeshan, the meeting had been deferred, Party treasurer and Union Minister of State for Non-conventional Energy Sources M Kannappan said.

Meanwhile, Vaiko, who is on a foreign tour, is cutting short his visit and expected to reach Chennai by the end of next week, party sources said.
