USIS attack: Another policeman succumbs to injuries

Another policeman succumbed to injuries on Thursday following the terrorist attack on the United States Information Service Office in Kolkata last week, taking the death toll to five, even as a high-level meeting was held at police headquarters to review the situation.

The meeting discussed the situation following the killing of two ultras, involved in the attack, at Hazaribagh and subsequent arrest of the main facilitator from the city, the police said.

Four police personnel died when motorcycle-borne terrorists attacked the USIS office on January 22.

The meeting also discussed measures to coordinate with the Delhi police team, which was expected to arrive in a day or two to help the Kolkata police in the investigation.

The detective department officials also deliberated upon future strategies and the situation arising out of several detentions in connection with the case, the police said.
