Five candidates file nominations for Kaliabor LS seat

Altogether five candidates have filed their nominations for the February 21 by-poll to the Kaliabor parliamentary constituency with three more persons submitting their papers on the last day on Thursday, official sources said in Nagaon.

The candidates who filed their nominations on Thursday are Thogi Gogoi (BJP), Bhadreswar Tanti (AGP) and Rashidul Haque (Samata Party).

Deep Gogoi (Congress) and Abedur Rehman (NCP) have already filed their nominations.

The by-election was necessitated after Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi vacated the seat on being elected to the state assembly from Titabor.

Scrutiny of nominations will be held on Friday, while the last date for withdrawal is January 29.
