One killed, 46 injured as goods train rams into passenger train

One person was killed and 46 others injured when a goods train rammed into a passenger train at Eklehra railway station near Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh, early on Friday, railway officials said.

The accident involved the Bhopal-Chhindwara-Pench Valley Express and a goods train coming on the same track, District Superintendent of Police Ved Prakash Sharma said.

The casualties might have been higher had the passenger train not been stationary at the time of the collision, he said adding of the injured, 26 had been admitted to hospital at Badkue while the remaining were discharged after being administered first-aid.
