Fernandes reviews situation in J&K

Defence Minister George Fernandes on Thursday reviewed the situation along the border and overall security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir with senior state government and military officers.

Fernandes, who arrived in Srinagar on a brief visit, held discussions with Governor G C Saxena, Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah and senior military, police and civil officers jointly at a meeting held at the international convention complex, official sources said.

They said the meeting discussed the overall security scenario in the state.

Earlier, Fernandes visited the J&K assembly complex, which was attacked by militants on October one, killing 38 people.
