Three persons, including a soldier of the paramilitary Border Security Force, were killed and 20 others wounded in two grenade explosions in the Jammu region on Tuesday.
Police said two persons, including a BSF jawan, died on Tuesday evening when unidentified militants attacked a BSF party with a hand grenade at Gool in Udhampur district in Jammu region. Four others were wounded in the incident.
In another incident, militants attacked a police party, near the main bus stand in Kishtawar in Doda district, with a grenade. It missed the target and exploded in the bus stand resulting in injuries to 16 persons of whom one succumbed.
Three seriously injured persons were shifted to Jammu for specialized treatment.
PTI adds: Seven militants were killed while 12 others surrendered before the police since Monday night, a police spokesman said in Srinagar.
The spokesman said security forces, assisted by the police, also busted a communication network of militants in Marwah area of Doda district and recovered three communication sets during an operation launched four days back. However, no one was arrested in this connection.
Three militants surrendered before the police in the frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir on Tuesday while nine hardcore militants belonging to three pro-Pakistan outfits had surrendered on Monday, he said.
