Soldier killed in Pakistani firing in Jammu

A Border Security Force soldier was killed and a civilian injured in the firing by Pakistani troops in Samba and R S Pura sectors in Jammu division since Monday night, a BSF spokesman said in Jammu on Tuesday.

BSF soldier Kulbir Singh was killed in the firing from across the international border in Mathi Choru area of Samba-Hiranagar sector.

A civilian, identified as Bakshi Ram, was wounded due to the firing at Chanana camp in R S Pura sector on Monday, he said adding Ram was later admitted to hospital where his condition was stated to be stable after surgery.

Meanwhile, Pakistani troops continued small arms firing in various sectors along the international border and Line of Control in Kathua, Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch districts of the division since Monday.

Indian troops also retaliated and the intermittent exchange of firing between two sides continued till Monday morning, they said.
