Two militants in Kupwara mosque killed

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

Security forces shot dead two militants holed up inside a mosque in Tutigund in Kupwara district in north Kashmir on Friday night to end a siege, which began on Friday morning.

"A search revealed that there were no more militants," a police source in Srinagar said.

Earlier, it was believed that three militants were hiding inside.

He said that the militants were killed in heavy exchange of fire, which continued till late on Friday night.

A group of locals recovered the bodies.

Sources said the mosque was partially damaged in the exchange of fire.
