Bihari Babu to cross swords with Big B in UP

After keeping a low profile for several weeks, ebullient star Shatrughan Sinha has agreed to jump into the poll bandwagon to campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh election.

"I am coming to India soon to campaign for the BJP despite scheduled engagements in New York," Sinha told Aaj Tak television channel from New York.

Sinha's presence during the electioneering is expected to be a shot in the arm for the BJP, who have virtually summoned him in an apparent bid to negate the influence of superstar Amitabh Bachchan, campaigning for the Samajwadi Party.

"I am coming here not only because of my friendship with (Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister) Rajnath Singh but also because of (Home Minister) Advani's order which is like a word of law for me," Sinha said.

Sinha, who is popularly called Shotgun, is currently in the US in connection with the staging of his play Pati, Patni aur Mein in several cities.

In an apparent reference to his strained relations with the BJP, Sinha said, "As far as my anger with the party is concerned it is an internal issue."

He, however, hastened to add that 'my party has given me a lot of love and respect'.

In a subtle attack against Bachchan, Sinha said he is not like those film stars who are unveiled only during polls.

"I think I am no more in the category of film stars, as I have been active in social and political field for the past 20-25 years," he added.
