Five terrorists killed in Kashmir encounter

Five unidentified terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Kupwara district, 100 km from Srinagar, early on Wednesday, official sources said.

The security forces had cordoned off the Khuri forest area to flush out the terrorists, who were killed in the shootout that followed, the sources said.

Three Kalashnikov rifles, 13 magazines, 144 rounds, two pistols and two wireless sets were recovered from the slain terrorists, they said.

Another encounter between terrorists and securitymen took place at Nutnusa in the same district on Wednesday morning, but details were awaited, the sources added.
