Three jawans injured in blast in Srinagar

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar | December 12, 2002 21:14 IST

Three army jawans were injured when an Improvised Explosive Device exploded in Srinagar early on Thursday morning, official sources said.

The bomb, planted by militants on a bicycle near the Presentation Convent High School in the Rajbagh area, went off around 0730 IST when an army vehicle was passing by, injuring three jawans and damaging the vehicle, they said.

Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to nab the culprits, they said.

No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the incident.

The injured jawans were rushed to the Army Base Hospital at Badami Bagh.
