US envoy Blackwill meets J&K governor

US Ambassador to India Robert Blackwill, who is on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to study the situation in the state after the installation of a new government, on Tuesday met Governor Girish Chandra Saxena at Raj Bhavan in Jammu.

He had a luncheon meeting with the governor soon after his arrival from Srinagar, official sources said.

Blackwill is scheduled to meet Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, political leaders and some prominent residents, the sources said.

He is also scheduled to visit former chief minister Farooq Abdullah's residence at Bhathandi on the outskirts of the city.

The US envoy had met senior officials and corps commander Lieutenant General V G Patankar in Srinagar on Monday.

Blackwill, after returning to New Delhi, is likely to sumbit a comprehensive report to his government about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
