HC rejects Manisha Koirala's plea; allows release of film

Our Correspondent in Mumbai

Justice F I Rebello of the Bombay high court on Friday dismissed a petition filed by actress Manisha Koirala objecting to certain scenes in the film Ek Chhoti Si Love Story, and allowed the film to be released.

Koirala had dragged the producer of the film, Shashilal Nair, to court on the ground that he had used a duplicate in alleged 'obscene' shots thereby portraying her in bad light. This violated her right to privacy and defamed her in public, she had stated.

Nair had offered to credit the alleged objectionable scenes to the duplicate.

However, Koirala wanted the 'objectionable' scenes to be deleted. The actress also challenged the final version of the film on the ground that the producer had committed a breach of contract.

Justice Rebello directed the producer to arrange for a screening of the movie and watched it at Liberty cinema on August 29 before giving the judgment.
