Promulgated by Governor G C Saxena, under the new ordinance, a candidate, while filing nomination, will have to file an affidavit giving information whether he is accused of any offence punishable with imprisonment for two years or more in a pending case in which a charge has been framed by a court.
Information whether he has been convicted of an offence and sentenced to imprisonment for one year or more must also be given.
A copy of the affidavit must be affixed at a prominent place at the office of the returning officer for the information of the electors relating to the constituency for which the nomination paper is delivered.
Candidates after winning the election must, within ninety days, give information on the movable and immovable property of which he is the owner or a beneficiary, his liabilities to any public financial institutions and his liabilities to the central government.
Meanwhile, an official spokesman said on Sunday that computerised and updated electoral rolls have been kept available at 8,845 locations for information and perusal of the people.
The locations include offices of 14 deputy commissioners, 17 sub-district magistrates, 14 assistant commissioners, 64 tehsildars, 114 block development officers, 199 naib-tehsildars and 1,929 panchayat ghars.
Those who have attained 18 years age and do not figure in the list have been requested to file their claim on a prescribed form available free of cost, the spokesman said.
Elections to the 87-member assembly will be held on September 16, 24 and October 1 and 8.
