The anti-corruption wing of the Tamil Nadu police on Saturday raided the residences of four senior Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leaders and a politician-aide of former Union finance minister P Chidambaram.
The raid covered the residences of former ministers Veerapandi S Arumugam (agriculture), K N Nehru (food) and Jennifer Chandran (fisheries), in various parts of the state.
Also raided were the residences of another DMK leader, S Raghupathi.
Sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption also raided the offices and residence of the lone MLA of the Nationalist Democratic Forum headed by Chidambaram.
Reacting to the raids at his residence in Poolavari village near Salem town, Veerapandi Arumugam called it a cover-up for the failings of the AIADMK government. In an obvious reference to Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, he said: "The people of Tamil Nadu know who is the personification of corruption in the state."
He also sought to know what action the government had initiated on corruption charges against incumbent ministers belonging to the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
