Militants attack convoy, kill two in Kashmir

A captain and a junior commissioned officer were killed and eight soldiers injured, when militants attacked a returning search party in Shopian village of Pulwama district in south Kashmir late on Tuesday night.

An army spokesperson in Srinagar said on Wednesday that militants fired a rocket and shots at the troops returning from cordon and search operations at Gadapur village en route to their camp at Qasdoora.

No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack, they said.

Unofficial reports put the number of injured jawans at 17.

A hunt has been launched to nab the militants responsible for the attack, who ran away under cover of darkness.
