Ansari, a MLA from Mau assembly constituency and wanted in connection with the murder of Lucknow district jail jailor R K Tiwari, surrendered before an additional session judge.
However, Ansari surrendered in connection with another case in which he was on bail.
He was remanded to judicial custody till August 27.
Ansari is also wanted in connection with crimes in Delhi.
