Togadia defies ban, holds meeting in Gangapur

Defying a ban on his entry into Gangapur city of Rajasthan, Vishwa Hindu Parishad general secretary Pravin Togadia on Wednesday sneaked into the city and held a public meeting.

The state government had banned the VHP leader's entry in view of the tense situation following the communal violence on March 25.

Assuming a guise, Togadia entered the city on a motorcycle.

He held a meeting of 500-600 VHP activists, police said, adding that the VHP leader also met the families of those killed in the police firing on March 25.

No action was taken against Togadia and the VHP activists, as this might have led to violence, a senior police official said.
