The London branch of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front has sought the intervention of the United Nations and the UN Commission on Human Rights in securing the release of its leader Yasin Malik, arrested after the recovery of $100,000 from two persons in Jammu last month, allegedly meant for Malik.
Releasing a copy of the appeal to the press, JKLF spokesman Majid Tramboo alleged that Malik has been tortured and beaten in custody.
"He has tremendous pain in his head and in the area of his ear. Several wounds have been found on his legs and thighs," he claimed.
"Following this cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment and punishment, Malik went on hunger strike and his condition has deteriorated. He has been placed on glucose drip by the hospital authorities," Tramboo said.
