Thirteen killed in J&K fire

A devastating blaze in a hotel at Sopore township in the north Kashmir district of Baramullah late on Friday night resulted in the death of 13 persons, including nine fruit traders, police said.

Over a dozen received serious burn injuries in the mishap, the police added.

A Q Manhas, Senior Superintendent of Police, Baramullah, told this correspondent that a fire broke out in hotel New Light at around midnight.

Eighteen gas cylinders blasts from the hotel kitchen engulfed the entire building, resulting in the death of the 13 persons, he said.
