SC verdict on legality of Jaya's appointment as CM on Friday

The Supreme Court will on Friday pronounce its verdict on petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the controversial appointment of AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu despite her conviction in three corruption cases.

On September 13, a five-judge constitution bench comprising Justice S P Bharucha, Justice G B Pattanaik, Justice Y K Sabharwal, Justice Ruma Pal and Justice Brijesh Kumar had reserved its judgment after hearing counsel for six petitioners, Jayalalithaa and the government of Tamil Nadu on the issue.
