Kamla Bora in Jaipur
In a surprise move, the Central Bureau of Investigation raided the luxury tourist train Palace on Wheels on Saturday morning.
The CBI sleuths stormed into the train at Mandore railway station near Jodhpur after complaints that the Chairman of the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation, Rajiv Arora, was taking his friends and select journalists on the royal train for a free ride.
Reports said that out of the total 104 passengers on board, 66 were not having tickets.
The CBI sources in Jaipur said their men checked each of the passengers travelling on the train, which was on its maiden run this year.
The journalists, who were enjoying a free ride, were de-boarded at Jodhpur, the reports said.
The CBI sources said the sleuths also checked the valid passengers, including tourists from foreign countries, to ascertain if they were travelling in the appropriate class as per their tickets.
Some Bhartiya Janata Party leaders, including two members of the state legislative assembly Rajendra Singh Rathore and Dharm Pal Choudhary, had on Friday complained that RTDC Chairman Rajiv Arora, a close confidante of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, was giving a free ride to his friends on the luxury train.
