At a reception in his honour in Allahabad, he handed over a purse of Rs 2.1 million he received from Yadav to Allahabad Mayor K P Srivastava for the city's development.
Speaking at the function, Bachhan ruled out his re-entry into politics saying the day he resigned the Lok Sabha seat in the wake of the Bofors controversy he had decided not to return to politics as he felt he was not fit for politics. So the question of re-entering politics does not arise, he said.
Bachhan apologised to the people of the city where he was born for having failed to keep his promises as an MP, but said they would be fulfilled on his behalf if and when Mulayam Singh Yadav comes to power in Uttar Pradesh.
Besides Yadav, SP general secretary Amar Singh, director of Sahara India O P Srivastava, Bachhan's wife and renowned actress Jaya Bachhan and script-writer Javed Akhtar were present on the occasion.
