The Madras high court began to hear the Tansi and Kodai hotel cases afresh on Monday, which are crucial to the political future of ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader J Jayalalithaa.
The hearings commenced with Janata Party president Dr Subramanian Swamy urging Justice N Dinakar to implead him as a party to the Tansi cases. He pointed out that he had been the original initiator of the proceedings in the matter.
With senior advocate K K Venugopal, appearing for Jayalalithaa, seeking time till Wednesday for offering his views on the subject, Justice Dinakar concluded the day's hearings.
The two Tansi cases assume significance after last fortnight's Supreme Court verdict unseating Jayalalithaa as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu.
