A day after the controversial Prevention Of Terrorism Ordinance was invoked for the first time in the country in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday said he would use it with a firm hand against terrorists.
"I will firmly use POTO against the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir," he said.
"The state is facing terrorism and we cannot wait till POTO is passed for implementation in J&K. We desperately need a law to deal with terrorism," Abdullah said.
"If any change is made in it after a thorough discussion, we will incorporate them," he told reporters.
When asked whether the state assembly had passed POTO, he said the assembly session would be held in May and "till then we cannot wait. We will do whatever needs to be done".
